Distinguished and Famous people from Hampton Park
🏅 Arthur Wren and Robert Booth
Hampton Park Tennis Club’s history records Robert Booth’s family as owners of land later purchased by the local Progress Association for community recreation. Arthur Wren helped create its first tennis court, borrowing a friend’s Fordson grader to level the ground. Families who knew one another through local dances began playing there, before the tennis club was formally established in 1962. The story gives two local names a practical sporting connection: the ground and the work that made a first court possible.
